My Unexpected Experience with the Infinix Hot 50 5G – A True Budget Surprise

Infinix Hot 50g 5G Long Term Review

To be honest, I never really gave Infinix much attention. For the longest time, I just assumed their smartphones weren’t anything special. They always felt like one of those brands that existed but didn’t really compete with the more popular ones.

But recently, Infinix caught my eye with a wave of new launches. Out of curiosity—and a little bit of impulse—I decided to try out one of their models: the Infinix Hot 50 5G, with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. I managed to grab it for just ₹9,400 after some discounts, which seemed like a total bargain.

And after using it for a few weeks, let me tell you: my entire perspective on Infinix has changed.

What Surprised Me the Most?

There were three major things that stood out and made me genuinely impressed with this phone.

Solid Everyday Performance

First up, the performance. This phone has been a champ when it comes to handling my daily tasks. I use a lot of heavy apps for work, multitask regularly, and even play casual games in between.

Surprisingly, the Hot 50 5G managed all of it without any noticeable lag or slowdowns. For a phone under ₹10K, that’s pretty rare.

Even with multiple apps open or during quick switches between tasks, the phone handled everything smoothly. It gave me the kind of experience I usually expect from phones that cost a lot more.

Impressive AI Features

The second thing that really impressed me was the AI features packed into this device. Honestly, I didn’t expect to see so many smart tools in a budget phone.

Let me give you a few examples:

  • Smart Touch: This feature lets the phone recognize text on your screen and converts it into a format you can actually copy. Super handy if you deal with a lot of text or need to save important info quickly.
  • Text Generator & Optimizer: These features help generate or improve text, especially useful for writing or editing.
  • Grammar Check: A built-in tool to polish your writing—something you usually find in premium phones, not budget ones.

It honestly surprised me that a brand like Infinix included features that some other companies save only for their flagship devices.

A Surprisingly Good Night Camera

Finally, I have to talk about the Super Night Camera. I tried it while hanging out with a friend during one of our gaming sessions at night. I casually clicked a photo, not expecting much. But the result? Honestly pretty decent.

For a regular user who just wants good-looking photos without too many settings or complications, this camera does a great job—especially in low light. You don’t need to be a professional to take nice pictures with this.

What Could Be Better?

Of course, not everything is perfect. There are a couple of areas where the phone could improve.

Build Quality

The build doesn’t feel very premium. I noticed that when I plug in the charger and accidentally tap the phone near the port, the plastic frame makes a slight noise. It doesn’t feel very solid. For someone like me who prefers a more sturdy device, this was a bit of a letdown.

Occasional Heating

Now, this might just be due to the hot weather lately, but I’ve noticed the phone warms up slightly during extended use. Not alarmingly hot, but just enough to be noticeable. Again, not a dealbreaker, but worth mentioning.

Final Thoughts – A Killer Deal at ₹9,400

Overall, I have to say this: for the price I paid, the Infinix Hot 50 5G is an absolute steal. I even traded in my old Realme 8i, which I had bought for ₹4,000, and I honestly don’t regret it one bit.

It’s rare to find a budget smartphone that manages to tick so many boxes—good performance, useful smart features, and a decent camera—while keeping the price so low. If you’re someone who doesn’t want to spend too much but still wants a phone that delivers, this one is worth considering.
