Xiaomi has recently launched two brand-new smartphones in India – the Redmi 15 5G and the Poco M7 Plus 5G. Interestingly, Redmi 15 5G comes as the successor to the Redmi 13 5G, but the company decided to skip the number 14 altogether. Alongside it, Poco, which is also under Xiaomi’s umbrella, introduced the Poco M7 Plus 5G.
Now, usually when two phones launch together, you expect some clear differences. I initially thought I would compare them separately. But the moment I looked deeper, it became clear that both these phones are almost identical, with very little separating them. So instead of a standard comparison, let’s go over their similarities and then highlight the very few differences.
Similarities Between Redmi 15 5G and Poco M7 Plus 5G
The reason I am calling these phones “twins” is because they share almost everything in common.
Display
Both devices come with a massive 6.9-inch display panel. This is not just about the size – you also get a 144Hz refresh rate, making the screens extremely smooth for scrolling, gaming, and animations. Brightness levels and overall quality are nearly the same, so you won’t notice much difference whether you pick Redmi or Poco.
In-Box Accessories & Build
Inside the box, both phones ship with silicon cases and a 33W charger. You also get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and the SIM slot supports either two SIM cards or a SIM + SD card combination. Both phones also carry an IP64 rating, giving you some dust and splash resistance.
Battery
Another big highlight is the battery. Both phones pack a massive 7000mAh battery, which is quite rare in this price range. On top of that, you also get 18W reverse charging, so you can use these phones as a mini power bank in emergencies.
Performance
Performance-wise, both are powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset. The AnTuTu benchmark scores hover around 4.5 lakh, which is decent for multitasking, gaming, and daily use. On the software front, both run on HyperOS based on Android 15. Xiaomi is also promising 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches, which sounds reassuring.
Cameras
If you thought the cameras would be the big differentiator, let me tell you – they are also the same. On the back, both phones feature a 50MP primary sensor, while the front houses an 8MP selfie camera. Video recording is capped at 1080p at 30fps. In simple words, the camera experience is nearly identical, so don’t expect one phone to be drastically better than the other.
The Key Differences
So, with so many similarities, where do these phones actually differ? Let’s break it down.
Design
The first difference lies in design and looks.
- If you prefer a professional and classy appearance, the Redmi 15 5G is the better pick. Its white variant with a marble finish gives it a clean and premium look.
- On the other hand, if you want something with a unique, bold, and slightly gaming-inspired design, the Poco M7 Plus 5G will appeal to you more. Poco has always focused on edgy styling, and this phone continues that trend.
Pricing
The second difference is the price.
- The Redmi 15 5G starts at ₹15,000 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. You can also go up to an 8GB + 256GB variant, which is priced around ₹17,000.
- The Poco M7 Plus 5G, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to offer a 256GB variant but is ₹1,000 cheaper compared to Redmi at similar configurations.
Final Thoughts – Which One Should You Choose?
Honestly, these two phones are so similar that it comes down to just design preference and budget.
- If you want that extra storage option (256GB) and a slightly premium finish, go for the Redmi 15 5G.
- If you’re okay with skipping the top variant and want to save ₹1,000, the Poco M7 Plus 5G makes more sense.
Both phones will be available online as well as offline, so availability won’t be an issue. But here’s my small complaint – at this price point, Xiaomi really could have given us an AMOLED display and maybe even a better IP rating. That would have made these phones even more attractive.
Still, if you’re someone looking for a big display, huge battery, and reliable day-to-day performance, both Redmi 15 5G and Poco M7 Plus 5G will serve you well. The choice is yours: professional vs bold design, and ₹1,000 price gap.
