Tecno has officially launched its Pova 7 series, and it includes two models — the regular Pova 7 and the higher-end Pova 7 Pro.
The pricing?
Pova 7 is priced under ₹15,000
Pova 7 Pro comes in under ₹20,000
But what exactly is the real difference between the two? Let’s quickly break it all down so you know which one makes more sense for you.
Design – Inspired by Nothing?
Let’s start with the design. Both phones look different, even though they belong to the same series.
Pova 7 has a geometric pattern at the back.
Pova 7 Pro comes with a dotted texture that honestly reminds us a lot of the Nothing Phone.
In fact, it even feels like Tecno took inspiration from the upcoming Nothing Phone 3 — and dare I say, they might have done it slightly better.
Both models feature something called Delta Light at the back — a stylish lighting system that turns on during different events like charging, gaming, incoming calls, notifications, volume control, and even during startup. It adds a proper flashy, gaming vibe to the phone.
Camera – Just One or the Full Setup?
Now let’s talk about cameras.
On the Pova 7, you basically get one main 50MP camera. There’s another camera on paper (an AI lens), but in reality, it doesn’t do much. So, treat it like a single-camera setup.
The Pova 7 Pro gives you a full camera system — 64MP main + 8MP ultra-wide on the back. So if wide-angle photography is your thing, the Pro is the better pick.
Display – AMOLED vs IPS
Big difference here too.
Pova 7 Pro gives you a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and high peak brightness — looks great indoors and outdoors.
Pova 7 has the same 144Hz refresh rate, but it’s an IPS LCD panel, so the brightness and contrast won’t be as good.
Also, the Pro model has an in-display fingerprint scanner, while the regular Pova 7 has a side-mounted one.
Specs – Mostly Same, But…
Both phones come with 8GB RAM, and you can choose between 128GB or 256GB storage options.
However, the RAM quality is slightly better in the Pova 7 Pro, thanks to LPDDR-type RAM, which gives better speed.
Processor-wise, both use the same chipset, so performance in daily use or gaming will be similar. Both phones also support 144Hz gaming, and in real use, you can expect around 60 FPS performance in popular titles.
Battery & Charging – No Compromise Here
No difference here — both the Pova 7 and 7 Pro come with a 6000mAh battery, which charges via a 45W charger. The charger and a back case are included in the box, which is always good.
Though it’s not 100% confirmed, the Pro model may support wireless charging, which is rare in this price segment.
Features and IP rating – More Than You Expect
Both phones come with some really nice extra features:
IR blaster (you can use the phone as a remote)
NFC support
AI features — Tecno says there are more than 10, and they include things like photo enhancement, scene detection, and smart gallery tools.
4K video recording on both rear and front cameras (at 30 FPS)
Android 15 out of the box, and both are expected to get Android 16 later.
Yes, there are a few pre-installed apps, but nothing major that ruins the experience
None of them gives an IP rating of 68 or 69. Although it is ok for Pova 7 but 7 pro should have give IP 68 rating because competition is already doing it like the Realme P3 smartphone.
Price Check – Final Numbers
Tecno Pova 7
- 8GB + 128GB – ₹13,000 (approx)
- 8GB + 256GB – ₹14,000 (approx)
Tecno Pova 7 Pro
- 8GB + 128GB – ₹17,000 (approx)
- 8GB + 256GB – ₹18,000 (approx)
Final Thoughts – Which One Should You Go For?
So the big question: Which one should you buy?
If you want AMOLED display, ultra-wide camera, and a more premium design with flashy lighting, go with the Pova 7 Pro.
But if you’re fine with just one camera, IPS panel, and want to save ₹4,000–₹5,000, then the regular Pova 7 is actually a solid budget choice.
At the end of the day, it comes down to your priority — display and camera vs overall value.
