Tecno Pova Slim 5G Review—a thin phone in a high-price disguise?

It is always a joy to hold a slim phone in the hands. But what about holding the world’s slimmest and lightest smartphone that still packs a 5160 mAh battery? Well, it sounds interesting, right? The phone we are talking about is the Pova Slim 5G, which has made this feat possible but other than being slim, this phone does not pack a really good package at the price it comes at. Well, let us tell you.

Design part of Tecno Pova Slim

You might find the design of this phone subjective because some users might like it and some might not be interested in this design. For SPD (us), the design of the phone is kind of unique, minimal, and yet it looks funky for the modern generation. There is a dynamic mood light design in the back of the phone, which looks like eyes and glows in different ways on notifications.

Oh, do not forget that the phone is 5.95 mm slim and 156 gram light so you can get the idea. For the water part, the phone is not water resistant because it only has an IP 64 rating, which is a big miss on the phone that is costing you quite a higher side of budget pricing. You get white, blue, and black colors, which are good color options preferred by most of the users.

Battery review of Tecno Pova Slim

In the battery part, Tecno has really done a good job because they have packed a 5160 mAh battery into a phone that is too slim. And, not only do you get a big battery, but you also get a 45W charger in the box, which will charge your phone much faster than iPhones, Pixels, and Samsung phones. You can expect a full day of battery.

Display Review of Tecno Pova Slim

For the display part you do not have to worry about anything because the smartphone packs an AMOLED display with crisp 1.5k resolution and that too running on a 144 Hz refresh rate. Watching videos or playing light games is going to deliver you an immersive experience where the smartphone is slim and too comfortable to hold. In the outdoors, the display is bright too and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i gives strong protection to the display of the phone.

Performance review of Tecno Pova Slim

Now the performance part is another drop-off after the IP rating, because the phone packs a MediaTek Dimensity 6400 5G processor. A processor that you can also get at half the price of this phone. The processor could have been better to go with the bigger battery and immersive display, as a lot of users would want to perform some gaming on this phone. However, you can still play games at low to medium settings but again, this is not a performance-oriented smartphone.

In the software you get Ella AI and a lot of AI features like the writing assistant and circle to search. Out of the box you are getting android 15 but we cannot be sure about the future Android upgrades.

Camera review of Tecno Pova Slim

Now for the camera part, you are getting a 50MP main camera and afront selfie. You can record up to 2k quality from the back as well as the front camera. The quality of the camera is going to be good if you click in enough sunlight; however, you might see it struggling at night, just like any other phone in this price point.

Pricing review of Tecno Pova Slim

Now let’s talk about the pricing of the phone and the RAM/storage variants. Tecno Pova Slim 5G comes in one variant, which is 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The price of the phone is INR 20,000, which is a bit higher than the average budget range.

Final recommendations

Should you buy the Tecno Pova Slim 5G? Well, if you want a phone that is super slim, packs a good battery, has a unique look, and does not compromise on the display part, then this phone is the way to go. However, if you value camera and performance, then you definitely have to look at the other options.

If you ask SPD (smartphone dose) then we are going to go with Tecno Pova Curve 5G.
