Vivo T4R 5G Review – A Balanced Performer Under ₹20,000

Friends, Vivo has launched its latest smartphone – the Vivo T4R 5G – and the good news is that it comes under the ₹20,000 segment. This phone aims to offer a balanced experience for users and takes quite a bit of design inspiration from Vivo’s premium V series.

What You Get in the Box?

Vivo has kept things simple but generous here. Inside the box, you’ll find everything you need – a screen protector, a protective cover, and, of course, the phone itself. That means you won’t have to rush out and buy extra accessories immediately.

Colors & Design

The Vivo T4R 5G comes in two color options – Blue and White. The finish has a marble-like texture that gives it a unique and stylish appeal. Holding the phone feels comfortable, thanks to its balanced weight and smooth curves. The display is a quad-curved panel, meaning it has very subtle curves on all four sides, giving it a premium look without making it slippery.

Display & Multimedia Experience

You get a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is bright enough for outdoor use, so sunlight readability won’t be an issue. However, it does not come with a permanent Always-On Display – something some users might miss.

The stereo speakers provide a good audio experience, though the vibration motor feels average compared to what other phones in this range offer.

Durability & Build

One of the standout features of the Vivo T4R 5G is that it comes with both IP68 and IP69 ratings. This means it’s dustproof and can handle accidental drops in water without a problem – a rare find in this price range.

Software & Updates

The phone ships with Android 15 out of the box and Vivo has promised 2 years of Android updates along with 3 years of security patches. You also get a range of AI features built into the system to make your daily tasks smoother.

Cameras – Strong Selfies, No Ultra-Wide

Now, coming to the cameras – this is where things get a little mixed. There’s no ultra-wide lens here, which could be a drawback for some users. However, the main 50MP camera can shoot 4K videos at 30fps, and in daylight, the images look sharp. In low-light conditions though, the photos tend to be a bit on the softer side.

For selfies, there’s a 32MP front camera that can also record 4K at 30fps. If you want better stabilization for vlogs or videos, you’ll have to switch to 1080p recording.

Performance & Storage Options

Under the hood, the Vivo T4R 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset paired with UFS 2.2 storage. It’s a decent performer, scoring around 7,00,000 on the AnTuTu benchmark – good enough for gaming and multitasking in this budget.

You get two RAM options – 8GB and 12GB – and storage options of 128GB or 256GB. However, Vivo has skipped NFC and IR blaster support, which would have been nice to have.

Battery & Charging

The battery here is a 5700mAh unit – slightly bigger than the typical 5000mAh batteries found in this segment. Charging is handled by a 44W fast charger, which is reasonably quick for the size of the battery.

Pricing & Recommendation

The Vivo T4R 5G starts at ₹19,500 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, while the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant is priced at ₹23,500. For most people, the base ₹19,500 variant makes more sense, as the higher variant feels a bit expensive for what it offers.

If Vivo had offered a 512GB storage option for the higher variant, it would have been a more tempting deal. My suggestion – if your budget can stretch a little further, you might want to consider the Vivo T4 5G instead, which offers some extra features for not much more money.
