Vivo X Fold 5 Impressions – Now this is the perfect foldable smartphone!

Vivo X Fold 5

When foldable smartphones came out in 2018, the innovation was very unique and shocking for every techy in the market. Samsung was the leader, and other companies followed then. They went on the run to create a slim yet powerful foldable smartphone.

After these many years, the folding phone innovation kept on improving, and the latest Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 is an example of one of the thinnest foldables but, of course, comes at a very huge price point.

But, it seems that Vivo has done an amazing job with their Vivo X Fold 5, which is slim, powerful and delivers a solid folding phone experience. Let’s see what this new phone packs for folding phone lovers.

Design and Build of Vivo X Fold 5

The main highlight of the Vivo X Fold 5 is its design and build. It is very slim at just 4.3 mm unfolded and 9.2 mm folded. These are some of the thinnest numbers that foldable innovation could achieve. Not only is it thin, but the smartphone is also very lightweight at just 217 grams. And, you are getting full water and dust protection, which adds to the durability department.

Display of Vivo X Fold 5

A foldable is a flagship phone, and most of the time you are getting the best possible experience. Here you get a 6.53-inch AMOLED display when folded with the resolution of 1.5k at 120 Hz, achieving the peak brightness of 4500 nits. When the phone is unfolded, it packs 8.03 inches of display at 2K display, and thankfully Vivo gives a screen protector on the display out of the box. The Dolby Vision and HDR support further deliver the best possible immersive experience.

Performance and Software of Vivo X Fold 5

Although the phone packs last year’s flagship processor, don’t think that it is low on performance. You get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with 4.1 UFS storage, having an AnTuTu score of 2M AnTuTu. On the constant, you will get 75+ FPS in even the graphic-intensive games. The company is providing 4 major OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates.

In the software, one key feature that we at Smartphone Dose love is the Magic Workbench, where you can open 4 recent apps on the side and 1 on the big screen. Also, this feature is optimised to resize in the games. For productive meetings, you get an AI meeting assistant which takes notes of the meetings for your convenience.

Camera System of Vivo X Fold 5

Now what about the camera part? Well, the Zeiss collaboration is really a very impactful collaboration for Vivo. You get a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 50 MP ultra-wide and a 50 MP 4x telephoto lens. In the front, the selfie is 20 MP on both the inner and outer displays. You can record up to 8K 30 FPS videos but only 1080p videos from the selfie camera, which is a bit unsatisfactory.

Battery and Charging of Vivo X Fold 5

As foldables are used mostly for productive purposes, you get a 6000 mAh battery, which is the largest in any fold yet. This big battery charges at 80 W, and you also get 40 W of wireless charging.

Other Features and Pricing of Vivo X Fold 5

There is a shortcut button which exactly works like the action button we see in newer generation iPhones, like the iPhone 16e. You can set it up for different tasks like a flashlight, translator, and a lot more. It is really appreciable that they fit in such a functional key in this thin phone.

The fingerprint scanner is on the side, and there are stereo speakers; however, the base of the speakers is a bit on the lower side. The Haptic motor seems good, and there is NFC, an IR blaster plus the 3.2 Gen Type C latest port. Now for the pricing part, you have to pay INR 1,49,000 for the 16 GB and 512 GB variant.

Now this is the Good Fold!

Right from the price to the design, features and cameras, Vivo X Fold 5 has really done a great job in the foldable smartphone market. If Smartphone Dose were to ask, what can this phone add more of? The answer would be a stylus pen or what we generally see as an S pen. Rest everything is really fine. Hoping that foldable phones get more budget friendly in the near future.
